Exciting things are happening at Henritze Dental Group! We are thrilled to share that we are adding another member to the Henritze family. Join us in welcoming Dr. Richard Newton to our team!

How would Dr. Newton describe his journey to dentistry? Two words: divine intervention. Believe it or not, Dr. Newton originally had a dream of becoming a veterinarian. He has always loved animals and is passionate about helping both humans and our furry friends. However, while studying veterinary medicine, he decided to switch into dentistry. “I would not have liked putting animals to sleep, so dentistry was a good fit for me,” he said. After practicing for 34 years, he is certain that he made the right decision.

When asked about his favorite part of being a dentist, he said “I love the interaction with my patients and being involved with their overall health.” His love for patients and his people-first approach will make him a great fit. “At the end of the day, knowing I have made a positive contribution to humanity” is what Dr. Newton finds most rewarding about being a dentist.

When he’s not in the office, you might find him behind the wheel of one of his three classic cars. “I am an avid car guy,” he said. “I grew up always working on cars.” He also enjoys spending time with his two dogs, a black German Shepherd named Otto and a Great Dane named Howie, who he loves to pamper and spoil.

Another thing we like about Dr. Newton – he’s local! Having lived in Roanoke for 62 years, Dr. Newton, Roanoke College alumnus, knows the area like the back of his hand. If you need a recommendation for a restaurant or an activity to do in the area, he’s your guy! For example, if you love Indian food (like he does,) he recommends Nawab Indian Cuisine. We truly love being part of this community and are glad he loves this community as much as we do.

If you’ve read our previous blogs, you already know that our staff treats each other like family and Dr. Newton is no exception. When we asked him what he is most excited for, he said, “I am excited about being involved with a great family.” His experience and passion for dentistry will make him a great addition to our team. “After 34 years of practice in various settings, I still have the drive to practice.”

Dr. Newton is caring, genuine, and devoted to his job. We’d love to show you that commitment first-hand.
